Dr. Ashbach was born on Aug. 1, 1939, to Leland and Margaret Wilson in Quincy, Fla.

She was a graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, Minn., the University of Colorado Medical School, and the University of Colorado Executive MBA Program.

In 1961, she married Gerald R. Ashbach. Jerry and Nancy had two children, David Gerald in 1962, and Elizabeth Leslie in 1964. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Sam and Maia, in 1993 and 1995, respectively. They divorced in 1999. Dr. Ashbach married Charles (Chuck) L. Jack in 2001.

Dr. Ashbach began her practice of medicine in Loveland in 1979, founding the Columbine Family Practice Center. She was a diplomate, American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Medical Management. She served her profession in many capacities, including as president, Colorado Academy of Family Physicians and director of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

In the mid-1990s, Dr. Ashbach served as a senior health policy analyst for the Jackson Hole Group. She was president and CEO of Metlife Healthcare of Colorado, and she served as adjunct professor of health policy in 2004 at the University of Denver School of Public Policy.

During her entire career, she first and foremost loved caring for patients either in a formal or house-call setting. Dr. Ashbach was a longtime member of the Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers and All Saints’ Episcopal Church. She and Chuck loved traveling, reading, spending time with family, and vacationing in Florida.

Dr. Ashbach is survived by her husband, Chuck, and her two children, David and Elizabeth; two grandchildren, Sam and Maia Ashbach-Sladek; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Sue and Kenneth Coleman of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Rebecca and Robert Brunswig of Greeley, Colo.

At the end of her life, she was cared for at McKee Medical Center, where she practiced for many years. Surrounded by her family, she passed away full of the grace which she personified throughout her life.

Services will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Loveland at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
